City of Milwaukee Health Department Announces Dates and Locations for 13th Annual Back-to-School Health Fairs Health fairs to be held Aug. 2 and Aug. 16, new north side location planned
MILWAUKEE – With school season just around the corner, the City of Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) has announced the dates and locations of the City’s 13th annual Back-to-School Health Fairs.
The health fairs, presented in partnership with BMO Harris Bank, United Way of Greater Milwaukee: A Proud Partner with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Molina Healthcare, Children’s Community Health Plan, Community Connect Health Plan, Milwaukee Urban League, and the Social Development Commission, will be held Friday, Aug. 2 at Mother Kathryn Daniels Conference Center (3500 W. Mother Daniels Way) and Friday, Aug. 16, at South Division High School (1515 W. Lapham Blvd.). Both events will run from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
“Our annual Back-to-School Health Fairs offer families an opportunity to get their children ready for a healthy school year,” said Mayor Tom Barrett. “I am grateful to our generous sponsors for making this outreach possible.”
Services at each fair include school-required vaccinations, lead testing, vision and dental screenings, and other health care information. Free backpacks and school supplies will be provided to children with an up-to-date shot record, or those who receive vaccinations and lead testing at the fairs.
“Each year we serve thousands of children at both health fairs,” said Commissioner of Health Bevan K. Baker. “Ensuring that families have access to required vaccinations and health screenings is essential to keeping schools and our community healthy year round.”
Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to receive gifts and services. For more information, call (414) 286-3521 or visit www.milwaukee.gov/health.
